Early December Update...

Good Afternoon to all our followers,

I have been very slow to update the blog recently as I life has been very very busy.

Firstly, Nick is doing really well it was two years yesterday since he started his first lot of chemo and I do not think either of us can believe it has passed so fastly and we are so thankful now that he is in clinical remission.  Nick still has appointments at the hospital to attend every three months but on the whole life is good and we are very happy; I am a very lucky lady to have such an amazing husband who I love waking up to every day and whatever life throws at us we deal with it head on, sometimes that is the only way to deal with things.

So just what has been keeping me so busy...well that would be our two lovely boys Oscar and Isaac :)

Since we received Oscar's diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder/Condition (ASD/ASC) I have been doing all I can in my power to help him (and us) manage his diagnosis...which for me means lots of meetings, appointments and courses and lots of reading up on ways to help him.

Oscar really struggles with school (he is a very good and pleasing child once there) but just getting him there is a daily battle from the moment I say it's time to put his uniform on! So after lots of meetings at school especially these last two months we are now hoping for some improvements and help for him - watch this space!

Isaac is totally different and loves pre-school and cannot wait to be in full-time school he cries on a weekend when school is shut so come September 2012 I know that I will have no problems leaving him for the full day :)

Me well I am just me, still smiling, loving being a wife for 18 years and being a mum to the best of my abilities....I would not change a thing.

And...to top it all off it's the season to be jolly....and I love Christmas so from us all here we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Merry New Year x

What a month....

Hi Folks,

Emergency Ward 10 is well and truly over - thank goodness and what a month March is turning out to be!

Oscar has been undergoing assessment for Autism over the past year and at the beginning of this month we got the diagnosis that he does have it - more so on the Aspergers side of the spectrum but as this cannot be officially diagnosed in children until they are 7-8 they have acknowledged the struggles we are having with him daily and now we will start to receive the help we need to help Oscar rather than struggling away on our own with him.

All this means to us is that "his little ways" are his way of coping and we can now read and take in as much as possible to help Oscar in his future years that are ahead of him :)

Oscar has dressed up twice for school this month, first of all as Incy Wincy Spider for World Book week and today for Red Nose Day - he really enjoyed the dressing up :)

I decided to try Isaac in 'Big Boy Pants' last Saturday and by Tuesday he was toilet trained :) Well Done Isaac!
I cannot believe it was so easy, after the struggles we are still having with Oscar in that department. WOW it makes me feel like I am doing something right being a parent :)

Nick is doing well - he is very busy he has had Cancer Clinic this month and we need to go back in two months instead of four months; more on that later....

My car has been off the road thanks to a boy racer overtaking me and cracking my window screen - that is now all fixed I just need it to pass it's MOT next week :-/

I am loving the lighter days and the odd day with sunshine it makes it all worth while :)

That's all from me for now will blog again very soon

xx

Catch Up...

Hello Folks,

Sorry for the late update but in the words of a very good friend the Dent Household has been like Emergency Ward 10!

Nick's stay in hospital was due to an infection - he is all better now :)

Whilst Nick was in hospital - Oscar took Chicken Pox so we had a very fun week to fill whilst he was off school. He was back at school for 4 days then he took Scarlet Fever - oh what fun that was NOT! 10 days of antibiotics with a medicine he does not like.....bribery was/is being used a lot LOL

Then poor little Isaac within two days of Oscar's illness he took Chicken Pox - really badly he is covered in them....

Me....I am still smiling - Matron Lynn as I have been nicknamed LOL

As soon as everyone is back to 100% we will have some more adventures and update the blog soon xx

Nick in Hospital

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know that i took Nick back into hospital yesterday after a very bad Thursday night with extreamly high temperatures, shakes, vomiting and bad headaches.

They are running test still on him, at 2 am this morning he still had the temperature and at 4.30 they took him down for chest x-rays.

I am sure it is just an infection but it has really taken hold of him and knocked him off of his feet.

I will keep you posted as and when i know more.
