More blood transfusions....

Hello Folks,

Yet again my poorly throat came back and I am just back on my feet from Tuesday if it does not go away this time I think I will scream!!!

Nick and I have had to swap texts all week again apart from Wednesday I did manage to get to see him he was really poorly with a very high temperature.

Thursday Nick had to have three more bags of blood but took a reaction to the 2nd bag and was not well so they had to hold off until later in the night before they could give him the 3rd one. Then bless him he had a bad nose bleed then they had to put him on oxygen and then he was very sick and it's been like that up until last night when they put him back on fluids via his central line via IV with potassium in it.

I am off to see him tonight, needs must he needs supplies and he is neurtophenic still so here we go with the apron, gloves and mask now how many people want to see a photograph of that! :)

Will update later, bye for now x

Bringing you up to date

Hello All

Sorry for no blog AGAIN... I have been poorly again with a septic throat so no visits to see my wonderful husband just text messages...it has been awful :( I sometimes wonder how the kids are coping not seeing daddy because just these few days of me not seeing him has hurt me like hell!

He has been having the roughest time too and I have felt so guilty that I have not been able to see him and help him through it.

Since Friday Nick has had to have a blood transfusion and antibiotics he has also had to have two lots of platelets and has had his last spinal chemo. He has been very sick and is not able to eat much due to mouth ulcers and he has has lost more weight - I think Nick and I have a competition going at the moment his weight loss is his treatment and mine is the stress of it all but I did not mind buying a new pair of jeans last week two sizes smaller than the last pair that I bought it put a big smile on my face :)

Nick was also fitted with a self dispensing pain killer machine so they can try and keep on top of the pain he is in.

He also went neutropenic yesterday so he has no immune system too.

So here we are cycle three complete recovery time now then one more 5 day cycle to go and recovery time again then it will be the big question....Was all this pain my lovely husband has gone through been worth while???? I know that meeting with the doctors will just be like the first time when we were told Nick had Cancer but hopefully it will be tears of joy this time around.

Fingers, arms, legs and toes crossed my love, I love you soooo much xxx

Double visits

Hello Folks

I visited Nick twice yesterday and will do so for as long as possible this next week, yesterday by the time I made my first visit Nick was very weak and the 23hr IV chemo had come down he was starting to look pale and could not hold much of a conversation at all but I was just happy to be there to hold his hand and stroke his head and be there to help him when he opened his eyes. He was craving ice-cream yesterday so that's what I took for him :)

By the time I visited him in the evening the mouth ulcers had already started to appear :(

His next round of chemo started at 12.30 a.m. this morning and he will be having something every three hours for the next few days.

I will of course keep you posted on how he is feeling in between my visits.

Bye for now x

This weeks update

Hello All,

It's been a tough week so far for Nick knowing what is to come now that he has been through it once and tomorrow is his toughest day with his 23hrs Methotrexate IV this is the one that ulcerates his gullet and mouth so more weight loss on the way the nutritionist will not be happy with him she will be back on with her visits to him....but he enjoys the visits really :)

Not only does he have the nutritionist calling in on him but he also has Matron checking in on him regularly....it must be his warming face.

Nick did make it home for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday he managed to meet his 1st cousin once removed baby Evelyn which really did put a smile on his face she is lovely, Thank you Richard and Louise for making the trip up from London I know she had a lot of relatives to meet this weekend so we really do appreciate you calling in to see us.

A little low...

Hello Folks,

I saw Nick last night I could tell as soon as I walked around the corner to the ward that there was something wrong...Nick looked really low last night mainly he is missing home and me and the boys but I pulled him through it as he said he would be home early this morning to see us all.

At the moment it's 11:24 and still no hubby :( he was sick about an hour ago and needs to stay put for now but I am hoping that he will make it home for a few hours this pm before he has to go back in for the night.

We have a busy day with visitor lined up for him but.....

I will blog later. x

A good day

Hello Folks :)

Good Morning...

I saw Nick last night with Cousin Joanne we had a good evening full of laughter and it was nice to see that Nick seams to have his sickness under control again for now and he had some lovely colour in his cheeks which was nice to see rather than the grayish colour I have been used to seeing lately.

As usual Nick is keeping everyone happy I even had to send Pickled Onions up to the hospital with Uncle Alan yesterday afternoon for one of the guys on the ward - he was very thank full to have something tasty to go with his Cheese and Crackers :)

That's all for now speak later must go and do some shopping....I have just read the nursery newsletter 4 days late and I think it might be closed today :-/

Day 3 of 16 and the sickness has started :(

Hello All,

I saw Nick yesterday evening...he had one part of his chemo via his central line then they took him down yesterday afternoon for his 2nd intrathecal of the spine but unfortunately they could not get any spinal fluid out so he could not have the chemo into his spine yesterday.

Unfortunately the sickness had returned by yesterday evening and I am still not sure how he did it or where it all came from but he filled 6 yes that's 6 sick bowls in one sitting...bless him that alone tired him out totally and it really did not help that he was in extream pain from his intrathecal so sneezing, coughing or trying to sit up is really painful.

I am hoping against all hope that he managed to get some sleep through all the pain last night, I know as I left the nurses were trying to get hold of a doctor to sign off his cocktail of drugs that helps him sleep, so fingers crossed it happened and he managed to sleep.

Bye for now. x

Missing my hubby...already

Hello All,

Sorry for no blog yesterday I could not log on to it for some reason but we are back in action today :)

Nick woke up not very well on Sunday so I took him back into hospital early and we are awaiting the results from his blood cultures to see if he can start his next 16 days of chemo today.

He really enjoyed the few days at home that he got and it was nice that he managed to stay downstairs for most of it :)

A short and sweet blog for today as I need to look after Oscar who is poorly today so that's me back to see the doctor again this week...

Fun Times

Hello All,

Nick, I and the boys have had a lovely few days together even though we have stayed at home and have not been out. While blogging we would like to thank Yara our friend for the lovely hats that we are wearing that came all the way back with her from her trip to Boston.

The boys have not left daddy's side for very long as you can see from the short movie fun and games have returned as daddy lets them do things like this when I will not...so the boys are loving having daddy home more than ever!

Nick is home :-)

Hello Folks,

Apologies for no blog since Sunday but I have been poorly :( but thanks to my mum I am now back on my feet and my beloved PC ;) THANK YOU mum for all your help with the boys I hope you manage to catch up on all of your lost sleep.

Nick's counts went up really fast once again...my superhuman hubby :) so he was released from Hospital late yesterday afternoon and is not due back until Sunday evening ready for his 3rd course of chemotherapy to start on Monday this will be us back to the intensive 16 continuous days of chemo.

We are now going to enjoy our visitors that are coming and looking forward to a few days of normality...boy oh boy have we missed normality in our lives these past few months.
